Day 4 Monument Valley
Today we set off from the Grand Canyon and take in the sights of twenty six miles of the Canyon rim. We stop at several points along the way to take in the breathtaking scenery, so have your cameras ready as the views are absolutely astounding.
Then we descend to Cameron and then on to Tuba City for a fuel stop.
As we make our way to Kayenta the scenery changes to magnificent mountains and in the distant you can just make out the outline of the wonderful buttes and red mesas of Monument Valley.
On leaving Kayenta you rise up and are faced with the spectacular sight of Monument Valley, perhaps one of the most filmed and photographed images of the American West. The buttes and mesas are isolated and are surrounded by empty, sandy desert.
After visiting several view points and the visitors centre, we make our way to Flagstaff passing through the Painted Desert and on to our Hotel for the night.
